Planning Choices

What will the future hold? Well in truth none of us can be 100% certain
that we know what is to come. But we can have a pretty good go at
mapping out the future course of our lives based on our current
situation, plans and ambitions. And if that planning process also
takes into account some of the potential variables which we may
encounter along the way then we could finish up with a fairly robust
picture of where we want to, and are likely to, be. And we can then
use that information to plan our investments and financial future.

It's a similar type of process to that followed by companies, public
bodies, and town planners. Take the Exeter Plan for example which is
currently open for public consultation. Here, the planners have taken
into account a whole swathe of variables in order to develop a
blueprint for Exeter over the next twenty years. So you’ll see
sections on housing, transport, and jobs. But the planners have also
taken the environment, climate change, history, culture and health
into the equation. Those interested in learning more about the plan
can attend one of a number of roadshows which are taking place across
Exeter in November, or view and comment on the plans online.
