South West Leads the ISA Way

In the year to April 2023, Adult ISA subscriptions amounted to £72.2 billion. That’s an increase of £5.2 billion on the previous year but still behind the record £83.2 billion in the 2014-15 tax year. The increase partly reflects a rise of some 700,000 ISA subscribers over the previous year.  Junior ISAs also saw a rise on the previous year with 1.25 million subscriptions. That’s according to the official annual savings statistics which were released on 19 September 2024.

Whilst the statistics reveal broad figures relating to the 2022-23 tax year, they also provide a more in-depth analysis for the previous year. That analysis reveals that the South West leads the way in the percentage of people investing in an ISA, with 46.4% of South West adults investing compared with a national average of 42%. The South West also posted the third highest average amount held in an ISA at £35,913, just behind London and the South East but still ahead of the national average.
